How long is your typical session?
What dictates session length for you? Does the gm run out of material? Is it a time thing?
The possibilities are endless!!!

Both of my groups (the one I run for and the one I play in) have 3 hour biweekly sessions. Sometimes we run a little long (especially when we have a hard time getting started); other times I'll cut things short a bit early if I get to a cliffhanger, or I know that the fight that's about to break out will take all night to resolve. But the sessions are almost always 3 hours on the nose.
As GM, I like the short sessions because I have less prep to do, and it's easier to adjust my plans between sessions than it would be in the middle of a 10-hour marathon. I'd prefer that both games be weekly, but it's just not feasible with everyone's availability.

That's been my preferred style of gaming up until about 3-4 years ago. Well, I'd still prefer that, but that hasn't really happened. Lately its been 3-5 hours.

Friday nights we usually game from 5pm until Midnight. Saturdays we're up at Meta around 2pm to record the podcast and then we game until Meta closes, typically Midnight again.

George and I land somewhere in the 4-5 hour range, though a good portion of that ends up being bullshitting and side conversations. I don't really find any problem with that... I think it's all part of the gaming experience.

Is there anyone that ever games for less than 1 hour? Ever? Back when I played Magic the Gathering, I'd easily play for 2-4 hours unless it was just to kill time before a multi-hour RPG session. Heck, when I play candyland with my 6 year old daughter, we end up playing so many times that it takes 1-3 hours.

Haha - Beats me... but if I didn't include it, people would probably ask where it was.

Thanks to your side conversation stipulation, I was able to go with 3-4 hours. We show up at the Bakers at 9 pm or so, usually, but sometimes it's not until 10, 10:30 before all the kids are asleep and we can start gaming. We often go til 1 am.
